HISTORY OF NK'MIP
Chief Clarence Louie was first elected Osoyoos Indian Band (OIB) chief in 1985 and since that time he has dedicated himself to creating self-reliance for the Band by establishing strong and diversified economic partnerships. Chief Clarence has worked relentlessly to attract and develop economic opportunities by creating an organized and secure business environment and has received many business awards as a result. In 1999, he was honored with the Aboriginal Business Leader of the Year and in 2000 he won the CANDO Award for Economic Developer of the Year. Chief Clarence's vision of and dedication to achieving economic self-reliance for his people is unique and has been the driving force behind the Destination NK'MIP.
